The criminalisation and persecution of people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Intersex is happening right now in 72 countries across the world. It has led to many fleeing for their lives and seeking sanctuary, particularly from those countries which still have the death sentence, if convicted.
Say it Loud Club's vision is for a world where LGBTQ+ people can express their sexuality and gender identity safely and with pride. Newly arrived LGBTQ+ refugees have overcome incredible challenges for the chance to call the UK their home. Seeing that there was a huge lack of support for LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers, Aloysius decided to found Say It Loud Club in the UK in 2010. Since then, the organisation has helped hundreds of LGBTQ+ refugees to successfully gain the right to live freely in the UK. Without his help many would have had to return to their home countries where they had faced discrimination, violence and even fear of death.
